De Novo DC : fail-safe technology

The total area of De Novo DC makes 2117 m2 at the total power consumption of 3.3 MW. The data center will enable accommodating more than 200 rack panels ready for installation of high density computation equipment. Minimum load can make up to 15 kW per panel. Rack panels will be accommodated in 31 shielded modules with fire resistance level of 1 hour in open flames. Connection with the DC will be ensured by 2 independent fiber optic communication channels laid along independent routes. The total throughput rate of these channels will make 640 Gb/s. The heat generated by the equipment will be securely absorbed by liquid cooling system utilizing Free Cooling – an advanced "green" technology.

Principal performance data of De Novo DC

The foundation stones of De Novo DC engineering infrastructure are:

  • Uninterruptible cooling system with two independent supply lines;
  • High precision conditioners with dynamic refrigerating capacity change functionality;
  • Free Cooling technology;
  • Two independent groups of high efficient UPS (with output-input ratio up to 95%);
  • Diesel power station comprising 4 diesel generators with backing-up;
  • Two independent high voltage power inputs;
  • Control system of physical access to the modules;
  • Individual automatic gas fire extinguishing system in each module;
  • Centralized monitoring and dispatching system;
  • 24-hour 3-shift dispatcher service;
  • Readiness of the infrastructure for the application of Enterprise class equipment and high density computations.

De Novo DPC will be divided into modules of two types: Small – S-modules, and big – L-modules. They will differ in the number of server panels and, correspondingly, energy share. Distinctions are shown in the tables.

Yet, the small module is not as small as it may seem at first sight, since the server racks contained therein may comprise

  • 384 x86/x64 cores or 64 RISC cores;
  • 1800 GB RAM;
  • 32 TB of operative disk space;
  • 32 TB of archival disk space;
  • Tape library;
  • LAN/SAN infrastructure.
